This small city is home to Cambridge University, founded in 1209 and is truly unbelievable. It's worth the hour-long train ride and serves as a good escape from busy city life.

sights

Punting: We rented our own boat and spent an hour or so drifting down the canals. You'll see some famous landmarks including King's College Chapel, The Wren Library at Trinity College and the Bridge of Sighs. If you purchase tickets before noon at the Visitor's Center there's a reduced ticket cost. There are several companies that rent boats and they all generally cost the same amount, so you really can't go wrong.

dining

The options are endless...so many cute cafés, restaurants, and pubs. You can't go wrong. We opted for Italian food at Jamie Oliver's restaurant. It was a beautiful, old building with delicious food. Sometimes you need a quick break from the heavy pub food! Lastly, don't miss Fitzbillies a famous café founded in 1921. We had delicious pastries and coffee after a workout of punting.
